Mods was formed in the early eighties and consisted of Morten Abel Knutsen (lead vocals), Helge Hummervoll (keyboards), Rune Bjålid (guitar), Kurt Olsen (guitar), Torkild Viig (bass) and Leif Arne Bergvin Nilsen (drums).

Mods - Revansj!

They released their first album "Revansj!" in 1981 on PolyGram Records. It consists of 11 tracks all with Norwegian lyrics. This album entered the chart on 9 July 1981, peaked at number 16 and spent 11 weeks in the chart.

Mods - Amerika

The follow up album "Amerika" was recorded in February 1982. This 11 track album also features songs with Norwegian lyrics. There was a slightly renewed line up in the band with Tor Øyvind Syvertsen taking over on guitar. The album was released in 1982 on the record label Slagerfabrikken. This album entered the chart on 15 April 1982, peaked at number 7 and spent 7 weeks in the chart.

Mods - Time Machine

In 1984 another album "Time Machine" was released under the band name "Mods" even though the band had a completely new line up. At this time "Mods" consisted of Torkild Viig, Geir Samsonsen, Morten Knutsen and Craig Whitson with additional keyboard work by Allan Skurtveit. This was the first album with English lyrics and was printed in very limited numbers. The album featured ten tracks produced by Mods and was released on LP (catalogue number: WLP 33003) and cassette (catalogue number: WMC 33003). In 2005, this album was finally released on CD (Universal, catalogue number: 9871123).

Mods Originaler

In 1992 the albums "Revansj!" and "Amerika" were available as a double pack CD set "Mods Originaler" (catalogue number: DCDX 33001-2). Limited numbers of these sets came with a free 3-track CD single with English lyrics. This album entered the chart on 23 March 1992, peaked at number 4 and spent 17 weeks in the chart.

Gje Meg Litt Merr: De Beste

On 31 July, a best of MODS CD was released with a bonus DVD (Univeral, 0602517000032). The best of CD consists of all tracks from the first two albums, except "Reisen" and "Takk for nå", plus the additional tracks "Bahama Mama" and "Another Day". The bonus DVD includes some live footage.

In 1984 Mods broke up. Three years later Morten Abel got together with two former members of Mods, Helge Hummervoll and Tor Øyvind Syvertsen and formed a new band which they named "The September When". Click here to continue the story.
